Recently, all of us Wizards of W.A.S. headed across the Celtic sea to a little house in Niort la Fontaine in the Mayenne district of Brittany to  sketch our hearts out! We had 1 car, 2 gals, 3 guys, 4 egos and a pile of baggage!We stayed ten days, did loads of sketching and survived to tell the tale. Here are some of the results from my sketch book.

This is a quick ink-brush drawing of a small village farm with hens and a trough.

Found this lovely old well in the same village and since the day had warmed up a tad and there was a wall to lean on, I decided to use coloured pencil on Ingres paper.

On a cold blustery march day we sheltered in an elegant wood and sketched.

There were a number of these carved granite crosses, about 4m tall.

We spent an idyllic evening lunching and sketching by a beautiful poplar lined river.







Gateway, Mayenne.    
The town of Mayenne afforded good street-scapes, this is ink-brush and coloured pencil.
